Organizational Decision Quality Assessment
Organizations, whether corporate, government, not-for-profit, NGO, or otherwise, can be distilled down to one central element: people making decisions. These decisions range from high-level strategic decisions to decisions about time, money, attention, and effort put into tasks. This simplified Organizational Decision Quality (ODQ) Assessment allows you to examine both the symptoms of your organization’s current decision-making process and the root causes of the current quality level.
Use the Organizational Decision Quality Assessment model to:
- Rate your agreement with each of the statements listed.
- Discuss results with stakeholders and examine the weak points in your decision-making process.
- Create an action plan to improve your organization’s decision-making process.
The Organizational Decision Quality Assessment is intended to be used by leaders throughout the organization.
An organization’s most valuable asset lies in people’s ability to make the best possible decisions. Better decisions drive better performance – it’s that simple. Unfortunately, the cards are somewhat stacked against organizations. Individuals are not innately wired for quality decision-making, and given that many decisions within organizations involve multiple individuals, the shortcomings can then become amplified and new ones introduced, which further hinders the decision quality.
For various reasons including lack of time and awareness, many people within organizations make false assumptions, or fall victim to various biases, fallacies, and traps when it comes to group decision-making. Assessing your organization’s decision quality can allow you to examine its weak spots and develop a plan to improve your decision quality and in turn, increase your business performance.

2) DISCUSS results with stakeholders and examine the weak points in your decision-making process.
3) ACTIONS: Create an action plan to improve the weak areas in your organization’s decision-making.
